Shrewsbury Regatta 2025
The 2025 Shrewsbury Regatta was held over the weekend 9-10 May on the River Severn with entries from 36 clubs. The races, running continuously like clockwork, were over 900 metres upstream on the Saturday and 550 metres upstream on the Sunday.
Like many athletics events, this annual regatta is run entirely by volunteers under the able stewardship of Helen Watkinson, Chair of the Pengwern Boat Club.
There were umpires along the course plus two judges at the finish, one of whom was aided by a vertical wire within a wooden frame (depicted in one of the photos).
